About Us

Our History
The National Employment Council for the Air Transport Industry, referred to as NECATI, was registered on the 25th of March 1988. It was initially formed between the then Air Zimbabwe Corporation as the Employer and National Airways Workers Union (NAWU) as the employees. Other companies in the Air Industry such as the then AFFRETAIR now Aviation Ground Services later applied for membership and were incorporated.
NECATI became dormant for the period 2003 up until 2009 when the incumbent chairperson Mr Mambo W. Madzura made spirited efforts to resuscitate it and operations were resumed. The Council board of councillors continued to run the operations of the employment council until 2016 when it recruited secretariat staff in line with the Labour Act [Chapter 28:01].
